Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Westbrook Road in Kidbrooke.

Part of the loft space of a semi-detached house was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

Station Officer Dave Kestell, who was at the scene, said: “There was heavy smoke logging to the loft of the house and we could see smoke coming from the roof on arrival. Everyone was already out of the building before firefighters arrived.

“Crews gained access to the fire via the loft hatch and quickly contained the blaze, saving the roof.”

The Brigade was called at 2222 and the fire was under control by 2336. Fire crews from East Greenwich, Greenwich, Lee Green and Lewisham fire stations attended the scene.

The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and involved a loft pipe heater.
