Firefighters rescued a woman from a fire at a care home on Malden Road in New Malden.
Part of a one-bedroom flat on the second floor of the building was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman via an internal staircase who was taken to hospital.
The Brigade was called at 2340 and the fire was under control by 0057. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from New Malden, Wimbledon and Surbiton fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and involved an extractor fan.
