Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to flooding on Breakspear Road South by the junction of Swakeleys Road in Ickenham.
An 18-inch water main burst affecting an area of around 800 square metres covering eight roads. Around 70 houses were flooded to various depths up to 15 inches. Five people were evacuated from two houses by police before the Brigade arrived. Firefighters evacuated another two people from properties on Derwent Avenue. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 22 calls to the incident.
The Brigade was called at 2217 and the incident was over for firefighters by 0119. Fire crews from Ruislip, Hayes, Northolt, Wembley and Hillingdon fire stations attended the scene.
