Firefighters have issued a candle safety reminder following a house fire on Park Crescent in Harrow Weald.
Part of the first floor of the semi-detached house was damaged by the fire. Five people left the building before the Brigade arrived. A man and woman were treated on scene for smoke inhalation by London Ambulance Service crews and taken to hospital.
The Brigade's fire investigators believe the blaze involved a candle.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Candles, incense sticks and oil burners are one of the most common causes of fire. It’s really important that you never leave them unattended and keep them away from anything that could catch fire such as curtains, furniture or clothes."
The Brigade was called at 0815 and the fire was under control by 0920. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Harrow, Northolt and Wembley fire stations were at the scene.
