Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire on New Year’s Eve in a single storey workshop on Southwold Road in Hackney.
Firefighters located a man inside the building and brought him out of the property. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews where he sadly died.
The Brigade was called at 1556 and the fire was under control by 1644. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Homerton, Tottenham, Hornchurch, Islington and Holloway fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
