Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Lexington Way in Upminster.
Part of a bathroom and a bedroom on the first floor of a mid-terraced house was damaged by fire. One person left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1542 and the fire was under control by 1637. Fire crews from Hornchurch, Harold Hill and Romford fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been caused by hot works which were being carried out at the property.
