Firefighters have issued advice on the safe use of candles after a flat fire on Claybrook Road in Hammersmith.
Part of a flat on the fourth floor of a 16-storey block, used as accommodation for staff at a nearby hospital, was damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade's fire investigators believe the fire was caused by items coming into contact with a tealight candle.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "Candles are one of the most common causes of fire.
"It's really important you never leave a candle unattended and always keep them away from anything else which can easily catch fire."
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 40 calls to the fire.
The Brigade was called at 2105 and the fire was under control by 2212. Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters from Hammersmith, Fulham, Kensington and Wandsworth fire stations were at the scene.
