Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a shop with flats above on Richmond Road in Twickenham.

A small part of the ground floor of a three-storey building was damaged by the fire. Six people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1347 and the fire was under control by 1534. Fire crews from Twickenham, Richmond and Heston fire stations were at the scene.

The fire has been recorded as accidental and the Brigade's fire investigators believe the cause was structural timber too close to a heat source.
