Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Beckenham Road in Beckenham.
A small part of an electrical intake room in the basement was damaged by the fire. Around 11 people left the building before the Brigade arrived and firefighters led a further nine people to safety. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 0953 and the fire was under control by 1057. Fire crews from Beckenham, Woodside, Bromley, Forest Hill and Lewisham fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
