Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Kelly Avenue in Peckham.

Part of the kitchen in a flat on the first floor of a four-storey building was damaged by fire. Around 15 people left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 2010 and the fire was under control by 2105. Fire crews from Peckham, New Cross, Old Kent Road and Brixton fire stations were at the scene.

The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the fire was caused by a fault in a dishwasher.
