Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Scotts Road in Southall.
Half of the ground floor of a mid-terraced house was damaged by fire. Four people and a dog left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters removed three gas cylinders from the property as a precaution and cooled them to an ambient temperature as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.
The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and involved a fridge freezer.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “If your white goods start making a strange noise, don’t ignore it. If you think there’s a problem always unplug it and contact the manufacturer or a qualified repair technician.
“It’s important to make sure you register your appliances as you’ll be informed if any issues are identified with the product you’ve bought.
“White goods should also always be stored in a safe place out of the way. If a fire does break out, you need all escape routes to be clear.”
The Brigade was called at 2117 and the fire was under control by 2258. Fire crews from Southall, Hayes and Feltham fire stations attended the scene.
