Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Orleans Road in Twickenham.

Half of the basement and part of the ground floor of the mid-terraced house were damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade was called at 1602 and the fire was under control by 1740. Fire crews from Twickenham, Richmond, Heston, Clapham and Kingston fire stations were at the scene.

The Brigade’s fire investigators believe the fire was accidental and was caused by a halogen down-light which had been left on.
