Firefighters were called to a flat fire on Homer Drive in Canary Wharf.
An electrical intake cupboard in a three-roomed flat on the first floor of the building was destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
The fire was discovered by a resident who heard a bang coming from their utility cupboard and found a fire inside.
The Brigade was called at 2308 and the fire was under control by 2329. Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters from Millwall, Poplar, Shadwell, Whitechapel and Dowgate fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and started in a thermostatic control.
