Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a derelict house on Beckenham Place Park in Beckenham.

The roof of the three-storey detached house was destroyed by the blaze and half of the first and ground floors were damaged. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 19 calls to the blaze.

Station Commander Shaun Coltress said: "This was a very intense blaze that was very visible and spread smoke to miles around. We asked residents to keep their doors and windows closed while we tackled the fire. Thankfully no one was injured."

This is the second fire in a week at the property. Firefighters dealt with a blaze there on the 27 May.

The Brigade was called at 1723 and the fire was under control by 1948. Fire crews from Croydon, Beckenham, Bromley and Deptford fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
