Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a shop with flats above on Ilford Lane in Ilford.
Part of the ground floor of the building was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
Road closures were in place in between Windsor Road and Kingston Road whilst firefighters worked to make the scene safe.
The Brigade was called at 2209 and the fire was under control by 2312. Fire crews from Ilford, Barking, East Ham and Stratford fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and involved a faulty flat screen monitor.
