Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Fairfoot Road in Bow.

A five-roomed flat on the first floor of the building was destroyed by fire and part of a second-floor flat was also damaged by the blaze. One woman was treated on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 15 calls to the fire.

The Brigade was called at 2007 and the fire was under control by 2102. Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall, Stratford, Shadwell, Bethnal Green and Whitechapel fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
