Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house on Mansfield Drive in Hayes.

Most of the first floor of a semi-detached house was damaged by the fire. One man left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

Hillingdon Station Officer, Scott Pearsall, who was at the scene, said: "On arrival, firefighters were met with flames and smoke coming from the roof and first floor windows where the fire had broken through.

"Crews worked hard to bring the blaze under control and did well to stop it spreading further into the roof."

The Brigade was called at 0949 and the fire was under control by 1021. Fire crews from Hillingdon, Southall and Hayes fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
