A woman has sadly died following a fire at a maisonette on Gillman Drive in Stratford.
Part of the ground floor of the building was damaged by fire. Firefighters rescued one woman from the third floor who was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. Another woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 1702 and the fire was under control by 1819. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Stratford, Poplar and East Ham fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
