Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a car workshop on Church Lane in Tottenham.

A single-storey car workshop was destroyed by the blaze. Firefighters led one man to safety from the workshop, he was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

Firefighters removed 35 gas cylinders and cooled them to an ambient temperature as some cylinders can explode when exposed to heat.

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers received 27 calls about the fire.

Fire crews from Tottenham, Enfield, Shoreditch, Leyton and Hornsey fire stations attended the scene. The Brigade was called at 1419 and the fire was under control by 1812.

The cause of the fire has been recorded as undetermined.
