Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Stephendale Road in Fulham.
Part of the ground and first floors of a mid-terraced house were damaged by fire. One person left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
Leading Firefighter John McGirr, who was at the scene, said: “The fire started in a chimney flue at ground floor level and spread upwards into the ceiling void.
“Crews used thermal imaging cameras to identify where the fire had spread to and used cutting equipment to gain access behind wardrobes in a first-floor bedroom.
“There was a lot of smoke in the bedroom and crews worked incredibly hard at a particularly challenging incident to bring the fire under control.”
The Brigade was called at 2202 and the fire was under control by 0012. Fire crews from Wandsworth, Fulham, Battersea and Chelsea fire stations attended the scene.
The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was caused by radiating heat from a log burner and heating the timber floor joists.
