Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a house fire on Oakwood Park Road in Southgate.

Half of the first floor of a semi-detached house was damaged by the blaze. One man left the building before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.

Station Commander Leon Back, who was at the scene, said: “We arrived to find flames coming from the windows on the first floor of the house.

“Crews quickly gained entry and discovered a well-developed fire, which they successfully prevented from spreading to the roof.”
The Brigade was called at 1756 and the fire was under control by 1909. Fire crews from Southgate, Edmonton, Barnet and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
