Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a hotel and restaurant on International Way in Stratford.

A cooking range and extractor unit in a self-contained kitchen on a roof terrace were damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 12 calls to the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 1800 and the fire was under control by 1943. Fire crews from Stratford, Leytonstone, Plaistow, Poplar and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.

The Brigade's fire investigators believe the fire was accidental and was caused by a fault in the control unit for the extraction system.
