Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a house converted into flats on Ridgwell Road in West Beckton.
Part of the porch of the ground floor flat was damaged by the fire. One woman left the affected flat and another four people left the adjacent flat before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1022 and the fire was under control by 1113. Fire crews from East Ham, Poplar, Stratford and Barking fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
