Firefighters led a woman and two children to safety from a maisonette fire on Lynmouth Avenue in Morden.

A small part of a communal lobby area on the first floor of a two-storey building was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus led two children and a woman to safety from a maisonette on the first floor who were assessed on scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade’s Control Officers gave vital fire survival guidance to those inside the property on how to stay safe before firefighters arrived.

The Brigade was called at 1511 and the fire was under control by 1521. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Sutton, Mitcham and New Malden fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
