Sadly, a person has died following a flat fire on Relko Gardens in Sutton.
A three-roomed flat on the second floor of the building was destroyed by fire. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews after suffering from smoke inhalation. Another person was found in a rear bedroom and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The Brigade was called at 0721 and the fire was under control by 0844. Fire crews from Sutton, Mitcham, Croydon and Wimbledon fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
