Firefighters were called to a fire in an open-air vehicle wash bay on Sandgate Close in Romford.

A vehicle storage shed and a static pressure washer were destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries. Around 75 people left the building before the Brigade arrived.

The Brigade was called at 1036 and the fire was under control by 1119. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Romford, Hornchurch, Harold Hill and Dagenham fire stations attended the scene.

The Brigade’s Fire Investigators believe the fire was accidental and caused by a fault in a pressure washer.
