Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Cherry Tree Lane in Rainham.
A flat on the ground floor of the building was destroyed by fire. Part of a three-roomed, split-level maisonette on the first and second floors was also damaged by the blaze. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 15 calls to the fire.
The Brigade was called at 2124 and the fire was under control by 2234. Fire crews from Dagenham, Wennington, Hornchurch and Barking fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
