Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to garages alight on The Ridgeway in Acton.
Four central garages were destroyed by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.
Sub Officer Robert Poeti, who was at the scene, said: “The fire started outside of the garages and spread inside. The garages were full of building materials, which fuelled the fire and made access challenging.
“Crews worked incredibly hard to bring the fire under control.
“Residents in surrounding houses were asked to keep their windows and doors closed due to smoke in the area.”
The Brigade was called at 2313 and the fire was under control by 0042. Fire crews from Acton, Chiswick, Ealing, Richmond, Southall and Park Royal fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
