Severe flat fire - Battersea

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters attended a severe flat fire on Dagnall Street in Battersea.

Part of the flat fire on the 10th floor was damaged by the blaze.

Station Commander David Bracewell said: "Fire crews worked exceptionally hard to contain the fire to the flat of origin and get the fire under control quickly.

"A number of people self evacuated the block, while other residents remained in their unaffected flats. Thankfully there were no reports of any injuries."

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 21 calls to the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 0933 and the fire was under control by 1012. Firefighters from Battersea, Clapham, Wandsworth, Fulham, Brixton and Chelsea fire stations were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
