Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at a hotel on City Road in Islington.
A room on the first floor of the building was destroyed by fire. There was heavy smoke logging in the corridor and crews ventilated the property. There were no reports of any injuries.
The fire was discovered by a member of staff who went to investigate an alarm sounding and saw smoke coming from the door of the room. They then called 999.
The Brigade was called at 1956 and the fire was under control by 2100. Fire crews from Bethnal Green, Shadwell, Dockhead and Euston fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
