Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a grass fire on Uxbridge Road in Feltham.

Around two hectares of grass, trees and undergrowth were damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

Station Commander Tim Wellman, who was at the scene, said: "Firefighters worked hard in hot and arduous conditions to bring the blaze under control.

"Their priority was to stop the fire spreading to nearby properties.

"There was a lot of smoke in the area which prompted a high number of calls to our Control Room, and we advised local residents to close their doors and windows.

"There were also local road closures in place so we asked motorists to avoid the area while firefighters worked at the scene."

The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 19 calls to the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 1401 and the fire was under control by 1545. Fire crews from Heston, Twickenham, Southall, Hillingdon and Ealing fire stations were at the scene, along with colleagues from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.
