Firefighters tackled a number of grass fires across London on Monday (8 August).
Crews were called to grass alight on Forest Road in Hainault at 1636. Three acres of grassland and bushes were alight.
The fire was under control by 1845. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Hainault, Woodford, Walthamstow and Chingford fire stations attended the scene.
Crews were later called to Staines Road in Hounslow at 1701. Around one hectare of grassland and shrubs were destroyed by fire.
The fire was under control by 1831. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Twickenham and Heston fire stations attended the scene.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "High temperatures are forecast this week and the ground is extremely dry.
"We’re urging people to take extra care and help us prevent fires on open land this summer.
“Make sure rubbish, especially glass, is safely thrown away and cigarettes are always properly disposed of. Grass will be tinder dry after periods of hot weather, so please don’t have barbecues in parks and public spaces."
