Sadly a man has died following a house fire on Compayne Gardens in West Hampstead.
Half of the ground floor of a semi-detached house was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a ground-floor bedroom. He was taken to hospital, where he sadly later died.
The Brigade was called at 2331 and the fire was under control by 0018. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from West Hampstead and Paddington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is not being treated as suspicious at this time.
