Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a maisonette fire on Freemasons Road in Canning Town.
Firefighters tackled a blaze at a four storey residential block of flats and maisonettes, where a maisonette on the ground floor and first floor was destroyed by a fire.
The Brigade's Control Office took 21 calls about the fire.
The Brigade was called at 1817 and the fire was under control by 1915. Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall, East Ham, Barking and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
