Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Amhurst Park in Hackney.
Part of a four-roomed flat on the fourth floor of a residential block was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a communal hallway who was treated on scene.
The Brigade was called at 2015 and the fire was under control by 2052. Fire crews from Stoke Newington, Homerton, Walthamstow, Hornsey and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental.
