Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Annesley Road in Kidbrooke.
Part of the ceilings of four flats on the first and second floor of the building and part of the communal roof were damaged by fire. Around 13 people were evacuated as a precaution. There were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters carried out a sweep of the building using thermal imaging cameras to check for fire spread.
The Brigade was called at 1248 and the fire was under control by 1445. Fire crews from East Greenwich, Greenwich, Lewisham, Lee Green and New Cross fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a fault within a bathroom extractor fan.
