Firefighters rescued a man from a flat fire on Renown Close in Croydon.
Most of a three-roomed flat on the ground floor of a residential block was damaged by fire. Crews rescued a man from the living room inside the flat. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews after suffering from smoke inhalation.
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers gave fire survival guidance to residents on how to stay safe before firefighters arrived.
The Brigade was called at 1934 and the fire was under control by 2034. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Croydon, Norbury, Mitcham and Woodside fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
