Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Millers Green Close in Enfield.

Part of the roof of a block of flats was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire was discovered by a neighbour who could smell burning and saw smoke coming from the roof. On arrival, firefighters were faced with a well-developed fire in the loft space.

Station Commander Richard Wyatt, who was at the scene, said: “Around 15 people were outside of the building when firefighters arrived and thankfully, no one was hurt.

“One of the Brigade’s turntable ladders was used as a water tower and crews removed tiles from the roof to access the fire and check for any fire spread.”

The Brigade was called at 1509 and the fire was under control by 1704. Fire crews from Enfield, Edmonton, Chingford, Tottenham and Hornsey fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have been accidental, but the exact cause has been recorded as undetermined.
