Sadly, a man has died following a flat fire on Queensbridge Road in Hackney.
Part of a three-roomed flat on the first floor of the building was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from the living room of the flat. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews, where he sadly later died.
The Brigade was called at 2139 and the fire was under control by 2250. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Shoreditch, Bethnal Green, Islington, Homerton and Stoke Newington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
