Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a restaurant fire on Cambridge Heath Road in Bethnal Green.
Part of the first floor of a railway arch used as a restaurant was damaged by fire. 25 people left the restaurant before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1954 and the fire was under control by 2038. Fire crews from Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Whitechapel, Shadwell and Homerton fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been caused by a fault within the electrical supply to an appliance.
