Firefighters rescued a man from a flat fire on Kemnal Road in Chislehurst.

Part of a three-roomed flat on the ground floor of a residential building was damaged by fire. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Neighbours in an opposite flat could smell burning and investigated to find smoke coming from around the door of a flat on the ground floor.

“On arrival, crews were informed that someone was in the flat and could see a fire at the rear of the property.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a bedroom and worked quickly to bring a fire in the living room under control.”

The Brigade was called at 0010 and the fire was under control by 0116. Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters from Sidcup and Bromley fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
