Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to a flat fire on Bell Farm Avenue in Dagenham.
Firefighters tackled a fire on the sixth floor of the building, where a five-roomed flat was partly damaged by the fire. Around 100 people left the property before the Brigade arrived and a woman was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene by fire crews and the London Ambulance Service.
The Brigade’s Control Office took five calls about the fire.
The Brigade was called at 1324 and the fire was under control at 1508. Fire crews from Dagenham, Hornchurch, Ilford, Romford and Barking fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Brigade and Metropolitan Police Service.
