Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled a fire at a disused pub with flats above in High Street, Enfield.
Half of the first floor and half of the second floor of the building was damaged by fire. Eight people left the building before crews arrived.
The Brigade was called at 1356 and the fire was under control by 1702.
Fire crews from Enfield, Edmonton, Chingford, Stoke Newington and surrounding stations attended the fire.
The fire is believed to have involved an unattended candle.
