Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Myddelton Square in Clerkenwell.
A small part of the lower ground floor communal area was damaged by the fire. Firefighters led a man and woman to safety via an internal staircase. A further man and woman left before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1106 and the fire was under control by 1232. Fire crews from Islington, Euston and Soho fire stations were at the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and involved an electrical cable.
