Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a clock tower alight on Ravensbourne Road in Bromley.

Half of a clock tower on the sixth floor of a mixed-use building was damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire was discovered by a number of residents in a block of flats overlooked by the clock tower. The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 35 calls to the blaze.

The Brigade was called at 2038 and the fire was under control by 2205. Fire crews from Bromley, Beckenham, Lee Green and Lewisham fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by a fault in a light fitting used to illuminate the clock face at night.
