Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a flat fire on Goldhawk Road in Hammersmith.

Most of a four-roomed flat on the ground floor of the building and a small part of another flat on the first floor were damaged by fire. Three men left the ground floor flat before the Brigade arrived. One man was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 19 calls to the blaze.

Sub Officer Kim Jerray-Silver, who was at the scene, said: “On arrival, crews faced a fully developed and very visible fire. The flames were coming about a metre out of the window.

“Crews worked incredibly hard to quickly bring the fire under control. They carried out a search of the building to make sure that everyone was safe and reassured residents.”

The Brigade was called at 2107 and the fire was under control by 2234. Fire crews from Chiswick, Acton, North Kensington and Richmond fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have been accidental.
