Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a garage fire on Church Road in Croydon.
Firefighters tackled a fire involving a garage, which spread to two properties and a car. One detached house and part of another semi detached bungalow were partly damaged by fire and a detached garage and car were completely destroyed by the fire.
The Brigade's Control office took 16 calls about the fire.
The Brigade was called at 1555 and the fire was under 1728. Fire crews from Purley, Croydon, Wallington, Addington and other surrounding fire stations attended the scene.
The fire is believed to have been accidental and caused by the unsafe use of an incinerator in a garden.
