Firefighters rescued two people from a flat fire on Park Road in Stratford.
Part of a four-roomed flat on the first floor of a block of flats was damaged by fire. One woman left the building before the Brigade arrived.
The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers gave fire survival guidance to occupants in a flat on the second floor on how to stay safe before firefighters arrived. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man and a woman via an internal staircase. There were no reports of any injuries.
The Brigade was called at 1725 and the fire was under control by 1818. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Ilford, Millwall, Leyton and Plaistow fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as undetermined.
