Firefighters rescued a man from a maisonette fire on Marham Gardens in Morden.
Part of the living room of a three-roomed maisonette on the ground floor of the building was damaged by fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a man from a bedroom who was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. A cat was treated by a local vet.
The Brigade was called at 2333 and the fire was under control by 0018. Fire crews from Mitcham, Sutton and Wimbledon fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
