Fire at building under construction - Forest Gate

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a building under construction on Clinton Road in Forest Gate.

Half of the ground floor and part of the first floor were damaged by fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 10 calls to the blaze.

One of the Brigade’s 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene as an observation platform, providing crews with an aerial view of the incident.

The Brigade was called at 2249 and the fire was under control by 0015. Fire crews from Leytonstone, Leyton, Stratford and Plaistow fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
